paper shoes in bad weather

thats a pretty good song if you ever get round to listening to it. well, its just called paper shoes, but you get my point.

once again, its another tuesday afternoon going online because i dont wanna do anything right now. we're done with all our courses this week, but there's still the educ and linguistics lecture tomorrow and the semester will officially be over! looking back, it seems to have gone by pretty fast.

alison jones' lecture is tomorrow. i still think she's brilliant, and its such a pity we only have 4 lectures with her. its mainly theories that she's dealing with, BUT I LIKE THAT SHIT. and what i've noticed is that these people who have written books and done research on their stuff are the most passionate about what they have to teach when they teach. (i'm sorry, did that sound long winded) for example, stuart mcnorton. i dont know if he's a professor like alison is, but he made the educ 115 lectures (that i son blatantly dislike) pretty interesting. as does alison. and she really pays attention to how we react to her lectures. oh i know, i know, i'm singing praises for this woman, but i think she's fantastic. part of her reminds me of aunty janet from my church back home, but only WAY WAY more brilliant. thats my opinion anyway. i mean, i think maxine's great and all, but alison, oh WOW.

ok i'll stop gushing about her now cause that was freaking me out too.

i just realized i'm signed in to msn...and nobody's online. pity that. yahoo's cuter anyday.

have you ever noticed how people try to be who they want to be? what i mean here is that when they want to be like somebody else, they become different. i dont know about myself, but..lets just make sweeping statements here. and shoot me if i'm wrong. that doesnt mean to say that i'm completely right tho. anyways, back to what i wanna say. its just weird how people try to be something or someone else in front of, or with, or around (insert proper preposition here) who they want to be like. their mannerism changes, how they talk, what they talk about, how they laugh, the expressions they use, how they curse and swear...it completely changes! its weird isnt it. or how people act different around different people. i guess you could say they bring out different parts of you and all. and that you're going thru a phase. and i think the one thing to bear in mind is that people are not static in their behaiour. they are CONSISTENT, but not static. time, circumstance and context can change how you behave i suppose. just like how your stands can change on certain issues because of what you believe and what you think is best, which in turn can change over time.

isnt it great that we can change how we think and feel? we're not static creatures. like what we learned in educ....i guess. you could take a feminist stand on certain issues, as a female, but there are times when you'd take a more neo-whatsit view. know what i mean?

no you dont you freak.

oh yes...i must officially announce

NO SPENDING WEEK
(till Friday at least)

it is a personal test to see if i can live off what i already have without being part of the consumer driven society and a victim of capitalism (i'm not very sure how that works or if it overlaps at all). AIHHH....basically i'm going kinda broke. well, not to the very dire condition of broke-ness. and in an effort to salvage money, i left my eftpos at home. HURRAH! yesterday was a great success.

this bit of song is in my head. URRGHH!!

I'm tired of the way that it feels
I only apologize to you to make you feel better
I think I've outgrown that horsehair sweater
I'd rather be on my own
You're 'bout as reliable as paper shoes in bad weather
but pain will roll off like water on feathers

pretty interesting songwriting skills eH, mr boyd?
