here's whats been happening the past few days:

ASMARADANA

well, i watched putri gunung ledang since hunnie got her vcd's from home. all in all, the movie was ALRIGHT. i'd rate it a 5.5-6.5 out of 10. tiara jacquelina is a beautiful actress who pulled off her role pretty well. ("pretty well" being quite generous) i thought the sultan of melaka was very huffy. and m. nasir's hair was so obviously ironed. those earpieces tiara was wearing in the film made her look a little elven cause they made her ears perk out. SO, if i had to sum up the movie in 10 words or less, i would say: A LONG-DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP GONE AWRY.

spectacular soundtrack though. and if you've seen the video for Asmaradana, you'd know tiara is a fantastic dancer. to be able to pull off traditional AND modern dance is a feat worthy of me going "WOooo..." i wanna dance like her..

the video itself is quite awesome. she looks like she's really enjoying the dance.

KAK SAZZZ!!!!!

if you thought Xerxes was a slave driver, you obviously have not met kak saz. she's the senior who's in charge of a lot of things for the malaysia carnival tomorrow and good GOD is she bossy. the other night during the rehearsal when she was talking to all the performers, it felt like WHHPSCH!! WHHPSCH!!....WHHPSCH!! and thats putting it mildly..it was actually more like a tazer gun (is that spelt right?) going ZZZZTTTTT!!!! ZZZZZTTTTT!!!!

geez...

i know she's under a lot of pressure, but her behaving like someone shoved a prickly cactus up her ass and being so bitchy about it demoralizes her dancers. i'm so glad i'm not under her for the dance cause i would've thrown something at her by now.

and another thing, she being in charge should let people know when things are happening. but NOOoo...she tells people TEN minutes before rehearsal that there's rehearsal. WTF?? and then i had to be awoken from my slumber earlier today that "THERE's DANCE PRACTICE NOW!! HERITAGE DINING ROOM!!" OH shit.

ugh!

and there's another thing about some of the dancers...i'm not saying that my group is the best act or anything along those lines, BUT i am making a suggestion for the betterment of the entire carnival..i think its absolutely crucial that the dancers look UP instead of at their feet. and make eye contact with the audience. and SMILE. i know kak saz is a slave driver and we would all like to slap her, but we dont have to make it look like you're stepping on spiny thorny barbed things.

ONLINE DATING

i think thats the trend with my friends nowadays. i personally scoff at the idea but thats not going to stop my friends from joining. and i still scoff on the inside..maybe its just me being skeptical about it.
 

AND THE CROWD GOES WILD!!!

there was a full rehearsal (FULL REHEARSAL MY FOOT!!) the other night. so us in the indian dance got all dressed up in full costume. and i mean FULL costume. seriously.

everything

skirt, bracelets, headpiece, earrings...scarf..and sari top for me :) damn, i look good.

we walked by the game room and these guys who were playing pool stopped playing to watch us dance. and they recorded us dancing..and left after we danced.

my god, the reception we got when we walked into position..AWESOME!!

we havent even started dancing and people were going wild. then when we started, they went even wildER.

HOW AWESOME IS THAT??

i kinda froze up at some parts and forgot a few steps but i think by now i've got them down. hopefully by tomorrow it'd be just right.

and NO sari top for me on the day itself. its a black top. i'm borrowing a friend's top. she's small sized, so i'm hoping i'll be able to fit into it.

ARABIAN NIGHTS

thats the formal coming up. you can dress according to the theme, which is arabian nights...or just look nice. maybe i'd wear the sari top then...its at the end of the month.

LITTLE MOUSEY BY THE ROAD SIDE

as me and hunnie were rushing to her physio appointment (sorry lah babe, he's not that hot...ok only. not my type :P) and i saw the much talked about James.. we saw a little mouse by the road all huddled up by itself. i thought it was dead. but it was not. its alive... ITS ALIVE!!

plenty of leaves outside. autumn's kickin in.

i'll blog again to gloat about how great the concert went. hehehehehehehehehe.
