still on that control thing
it wasnt till i studied education in sociology that i understood why there were so many petty rules enforced in our schools here.
i mean,
and what i found out, is that its about CONTROL.
the moment you enter school, you take on the role of a student. a passive one.
everything that makes you YOU (appearance-wise) you leave outside
if you resist, you are problematic.
what is it about this control thing?
oh, in other news, turns out SoF's Burger Boy is 20. i'd never have guessed. he looks wa-ay older.

Here's my thoughts:
School, first and foremost, is about acquiring an education. And that should be the objective of the administrators and teachers. Their job is doubly hard because of social problems and the disintegration of the family structure. All of this is hard for the students, who are already struggling with all that goes along with adolescence. Now, a big ingredient of education is to learn you sometimes have to adapt, you often have to go along with the rules. Not always, but sometimes. So, there are dress codes and expectations of behavior at school. I think it is necessary to accpet most such rules because the gaining of an education is so vitally important. You'll find, I think, with College there will be fewer such rules, yet a greater accountability. Then you will get into your career, and find other unique expectations and challenges to go along with a different set of rules. Alas, that is life, and a lifelong struggle.
I wish you the best.
